Little Women

June 13th and 14th, 2024

OVERVIEW

Little Women is an original ballet production choreographed and directed by Caitlyn Sullins for Natural State Performing Arts. NSPA will perform at the Arkansas Arts Academy on June 13th and 14th. Tickets go on sale April 1st.

SUMMARY

Follow in the footsteps of the March Family women as they adjust to life during wartime. In Concord, Massachusetts in the 1860s, Mrs. March lives at home with 4 daughters. Her husband, once a wealthy businessman, has been conscripted to fight in the Civil War. The March women do their best to lead fulfilling lives despite the circumstances they find themselves in. Meg, the oldest, remembers times of wealth and prosperity but strives to be grateful for what she still has. Jo writes, cares for her sick sister, and writes some more. Beth brings music to their home before she falls ill. And Amy, the youngest, does her best to keep up.

The sisters experience poverty, famine, loss, heartbreak, and war, all while trying to find their version of success in a divided world. A story that's as topical today as it was when written, the Marches show us how to persevere by relying on each other while they find themselves.
