Who are we?

Natural State Performing Arts (NSPA) is a professional-caliber training and performing company. Our classes demand rigor and discipline, and the results speak for themselves. Our accelerated training program takes dedicated students, of all ages, from absolute beginners to confident performers, and our original shows allow us to provide challenging but attainable roles for all skill levels. Our productions are always collaborative, and students are exposed to and take part in the entire production process.

With over 50 years of combined experience in the performing arts, our team has a roster of industry contacts and a wide range of skills and expertise to impart to our students and collaborators. A well-rounded performer is hireable, even beyond the stage.

We teach the discipline and determination that it takes to succeed in competitive industries across the economy. Our students are high achievers in all areas of their lives because that's what it takes.

Caitlyn Sullins

Owner, Director, Principal, and Teacher

Caitlyn "Ms. Caity" Sullins has returned to her hometown, bringing back over a decade of professional experience, in addition to over 15 years of classical ballet training from Ms. Margaret "Peggy" Wallace.  As a child, Ms. Caity's parents found that ballet was the perfect practice to hone and focus her incredible energy and drive. Ms. Peggy took what she affectionately called a "bull in a china shop" and turned her into the passionate ballet dancer and educator she is today. Inspired by Ms. Peggy, Ms. Caity attended Missouri State University to pursue a BFA in Dance. There, she balanced teaching at two studios with a full-time job and a course load that would ultimately solidify her passion for all kinds of dance--particularly Modern dance as taught by the likes of Steve Rooks and Ruth Barnes.  After school, Ms. Caity took a turn on the corporate side of the dance world, selling and designing pointe shoes for RP, Bloch, and Gaynor Minden. Her work in the dancewear industry took her all over the country, meeting educators and fellow industry professionals and further expanding her knowledge of and integration into the dance world. Now, Ms. Caity has developed a professional performing arts company in Bella Vista, serving the entire NWA region. Natural State Performing Arts is the first dance and performing arts training center in the area whose pedagogy combines real-world performance practice with training that promotes a long and meaningful career in the arts--or any industry where soft skills like confidence, performance quality, and problem-solving are necessary for success. Ms. Caity's philosophy carries forward the discipline and rigor of traditional ballet while replacing outdated stereotypes with healthy self-image and high expectations. The high level of professionalism demanded in Ms. Caity's studio has led to a productive relationship with the American Academy of Ballet in New York. NSPA students demonstrated the benefits of Ms. Caity's teaching philosophy and, in turn, Ms. Caity learned even more about ballet, joining the ranks of AAB's certified instructors to teach a curriculum that aligns closely with NSPA philosophy.

"The standards are what makes it ballet." -Ms. Caity

Marissa Puente

Our high-energy Assistant Director, Ms. Marissa, brings a dedication to safe, effective, and intense training, making NSPA the place for strong dancers. Her dynamic, innovative choreography is an incredible complement to the rigid structure of classical ballet. Ms. Marissa's expertise is crucial to our mission of creating healthy, strong performers with long careers.

Effort Over Economics:

Show up, work hard, and dedicate yourself to the practice. Our classes are intentionally inexpensive--not cheap.

What you save in dollars, you pay back in discipline, dedication, and determination.

HOW CAN WE AFFORD NOT TO DANCE?

Paints are expensive.

Instruments more so.

Dance is a natural state of being. You already have your instrument. All you need is a body and a rhythm to start.

There are costs for dance training, of course, and we're working to keep them reasonable in this unpredictable economy. Regardless of how your finances look, there's a place for you here. Bring your passion, enthusiasm, and appreciation for the performing arts, and we'll figure out the rest together.
